I think it was already pretty clear last week, that we will watch two movies, or let’s say, I will watch two and it’s up to you, for which one you would like to join me or if you would even like to watch them both as well. The poll shows, that Talvisota – The Winter War is the winner but I will also watch Master & Commander. The reason is simple, we have 5 votes on Talvisota, one from me, one from Guy but there are 3 others, so maybe people just want to watchalong but not say much. Fine by me. We will watch the 195min movie but if Netflix has only the 125min, maybe that would be fine as well. It’s up to you.
Master & Commander has 4 votes of which I know 3 people, that’s why we will include it too.
The problem is now the schedule. I don’t think it would be a good idea to have them on consecutive days, so lets space them out and move them. My proposal is as follows.
The questiosn for the movies – which you can answer on your blog or write a review, whichever works best – will be posted on
Friday 16 December for Master & Commander and
Saturday 17 December for The Winter War/Talvisota
Should you want to contribute questions like Novroz, send them to me via allaboutwarmovies at gmail dot com.
The Watchalongs will take place on
Tuesday 27 December for Master and Commander and
Thursday 29 December for The Winter War/Talvisota.
Great my copy arrived yesterday
I’m looking forward to it. We will see if Kevin decides to join us. I think he got the 125 min copy.
Do you also have a Korean version with English and Korean subtitles?
Yes, the Korean version is it.
Due to time constraints, I’ll join in for The Winter War.
I think it’s the only one available anyway, apart from the 125 min US one that is.
eh? hehe I don’t want to give questions Caroline, it was a misread 😉
I haven’t searched the movie yet, but it’s still on 27 Dec…so I still have time.
OK, no worries. Maybe we don’t even need questions.
I’m in for Master and Commander. I’ll have to look into the other movie and see if I have time. Thanks for doing this.
Thanks for joining. It should be interesting, something different. 🙂
I will send away for the 195 minute version today. Hopefully it comes in soon enough. I’m in for both movies, of course.
That’s great. I hope your copy is better than mine, I watched a bit to see what it’s like and it’s playing up a bit.
I have watched both of these many times. They are among my all time favorites. Ask me anything you want. By the way if any one has a good surround setup Master and Commander sounds amazing.
I’ve seen ;ster & Commnader three times now but Talvisota is new for me.
The idea is to ask questions like “Did you like the movie?”, “What is your favourite character?” and stuff like that. They are more meant to be writing prompts than “proper questions”. It’s done in book readalongs because it somehow encourages discussions better than reviews but it doesn’t really matter.
I’ve watched Master & Commander yesterday with an excellent sound system and I agree, It’s pretty amazing. You have feeling of sitting inside of that ship.
My Talvisota is bad quality. This dampens the experience a bit. You are welcome to discuss with us, if you like. If you can think of an interesting question, let me know (for either one of the movies).
